Congregation Am Haskalah fosters in our students a strong and joyful Reconstructionist Jewish identity, and prepares them to be comfortable, confident and active participants in the many communities, Jewish and other, they encounter.

Our religious school is a core component of our congregation. In an enjoyable and engaging environment, students learn Hebrew and religious literacy, life cycle events, and Jewish history, values, ethics and culture. Teachers craft age-appropriate lessons based on the school’s curriculum. We have multiple grade levels to more closely tailor the childrens' experience with their aptitudes and ages.

For the 2009/2010 school year (the 5770 Jewish year!), all classes in the Religious School meet on Sundays at the DaVinci Science Center in Allentown, PA. The Bet and Gimmel classes also meet at the Allentown JCC on Mondays.

Kitah Alef (ages 5-7), Kitah Bet (ages 7-11), and Kitah Gimmel (ages 11 and up) meets Sunday, 9:30-11:30am at the DaVinci Center
AND
Kitah Bet and Kitah Gimmel meet Monday 4:00 to 5:30 at the JCC.

Tuition will be prorated for students joining mid-year. You are welcomed to enroll your child at any time. We do not turn people away for inability to pay. Please speak to our Treasurer, Izzy Studzienko (mailto:izzy2@ptd.net). All communication will remain confidential.

Director of Education

Vicki Haller Graff is serving as the Director of Education. She also directs the education program at Touchstone Theatre, in Bethlehem. Vicki has been an active member of Am Haskalah for the past 3 years, lay-leading services, serving on the ritual committee, and volunteering with the Religious School to direct a Hanukkah play. Judaism has always played an active role in her life: attending summer camp and religious school as a child, counseling at summer camp and seeking out Jewish students in college, searching for the right congregation and touring Israel as an adult. Vicki brings a personal love and interest and Judaism and a professional commitment to creating a positive and effective learning environment.
